How it works
Many Nigerian universities compute an admission aggregate by weighting three things: your JAMB (UTME) score out of 400, your Post-UTME screening score, and your O'Level grades from your best five subjects. A widely used weighting is JAMB 50% + Post-UTME 30% + O'Level 20%, though some institutions weight these differently, or use JAMB alone for initial screening.
Worked example: say you scored 280 in JAMB (out of 400), 65 in Post-UTME (out of 100), and your five best O'Level grades are A1, B2, B2, B3, C4 (points 6+5+5+4+3 = 23 out of a possible 30). Your JAMB contributes (280÷400)×50 = 35, your Post-UTME contributes (65÷100)×30 = 19.5, and your O'Level contributes (23÷30)×20 ≈ 15.3 — adding up to an aggregate of about 69.8 out of 100.

Do all universities use the same aggregate formula?
No. The 50/30/20 (JAMB/Post-UTME/O'Level) split is common but not universal — some universities weight JAMB more heavily, some use JAMB score alone for initial shortlisting, and polytechnics often have their own point systems. Always check your target school's admission policy.
How are O'Level grades converted to points here?
This calculator uses a common point scale: A1=6, B2=5, B3=4, C4=3, C5=2, C6=1, summed across your best five subjects, then scaled to a 20-point contribution. Some institutions use a different point scale — this is a widely used approximation.
What's a good aggregate score?
It depends heavily on the course and university. Highly competitive courses like Medicine and Law often expect an aggregate around 70+, while many other courses admit from the 50s upward. Departmental cut-offs change every admission cycle.
What if my university only uses my JAMB score?
Switch to "JAMB score only" mode — it converts your raw score out of 400 straight to a score out of 100, without factoring in Post-UTME or O'Level grades.
Does a high aggregate guarantee admission?
No — admission also depends on available slots, catchment area / state quotas, and JAMB's own centralised admission process (CAPS). A strong aggregate improves your chances but isn't the only factor.
